HANNA: Lynn Patricia - born March 17,
1955 deceased November 19, 2009
It is with great sadness and regret that we
inform you of the sudden death of Captain (RCAF)
Lynn Patricia Hanna of Clear Creek Ontario
and formerly of Ft. Lauderdale/Davie Florida
in her 55th year. Loving friend to Michael
Doyle. Lynn was the daughter of Wilfred and
Leah Hanna Fort Erie, Ontario, mother of
Leah also of Fort Erie. Sister to James
(Barb) and William (Patty) Hanna, Fort Erie
Ontario. Dearest friend of Brenda Rebry,
Dave and Faye Herr, Roger Desmarchais,
Robert Lichtenberger (Deceased) and Lt.
Colonel J.A.G. Herbert T. Schwartz USAF
(Ret). Lynn leaves behind many
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
To those privileged few who were allowed to
get to know this courageous woman, we found
a multi-talented, multi-faceted, resilient
individual who spoke several languages, and
always had a generous quip for those around
her. Since Lynn was part German and a whole
lot Irish it is only fitting we leave a
little Lynnie in the following words of her
ancestors. “Ich werde denjenigen entfremdet,
wer mich lieben und mich schützen sollten,
deshalb werde ich Trost im Gott finden”.
Lynn was a star athlete and an accomplished
golfer before joining the Royal Canadian Air
Force. Lynn rose to the rank of Captain
before being recruited into the United
States Air Force and was the first woman to
fly in a Russian Mig 15 Fighter Jet. Lynn
was a true patriot and a good soldier.
As a valued employee of Canada Post, Lynn
always found time to give candy to the kids
on her mail route. Many happy hours were
spent on golf courses around this continent
and as a member at Sapphire Valley Golf and
Country Club, North Carolina; Lynn was
always invited to play the top courses.
Lynn was a boater and an avid
environmentalist who worked on projects
around the world as a liaison to Robert F.
Kennedy Jr. and the Waterkeeper Alliance.
Millions of dollars was raised because of
the efforts of this lady.
Lynn owned and operated many businesses in
both Florida and Ontario including the Elbow
Swamp Sports Bar and Grill, Nature Calls
Nursery and Lynn’s Heritage Quilts. Her
botany knowledge is unmatched.
Special thanks to the Paramedics, Police,
Doctors , Surgeons and Nurses who put Lynn
back together after her horrific car
accident, I say too you on her behalf thank
you and she loved all of you deeply. And, to
Doctor Brian Fingado (Surgeon) of the Miami
Dolphins, you are a special human being.
In your cotillion of life you stood strong
and defended others when they couldn’t
defend themselves.
There are those that dream of greatness,
those that achieve greatness, and those that
get to read about it. Lynn was a soldier
that achieved greatness and one day the
masses may get to read about it.
Lynn will be missed by those who new her
well and she has definitely gone to a better
place… “Go throw some stones Lynnie....” You
did not die in vane… As our friend says when
the angels weep you no longer have to pace
the cage. Say hello to Jazzie.
The RCAF and USAF tips a wing to you girl……
The Little Man……..
A celebration of Lynn’s life will take place
on Thursday December 3, 2009 at 1:30pm in
